Drug shortages have been a frustrating problem for many pharmacists over the past year. At the Fall River Guardian we have been fortunate to have very few incidents where we were unable to obtain a particular medication but the problem is sometimes challenging.
There is an interesting article in the CMAJ written on November 1st, 2010 about the problem.
The majority (89%) of pharmacists also said that drug shortages have greatly increased over the past 12 months, while 70% said the shortages were affecting their patients’ health.
